Semi-supported Steel Plate Shear Wall with Oblique Sides

This paper presents a new configuration for semi-supported steel plate shear walls to increase their efficiency. For this purpose, the infill is proposed be trapezoidal shape instead of rectangular one. To find most efficient inclination angle lateral sides, numerical parametric study was conducted. Five different values including 60, 75, 90, 105, and 120 degrees were considered. Furthermore, two thicknesses 1.75 2.00 mm considered plate. The area same all models. models analyzed using finite element software ABAQUS. Both geometric material nonlinearity have been validate modeling, available experimental results used. According results, comparing wall with plate, 60° increases ultimate strength stiffness mm-thick by 46% 66%, respectively. simple approximate model presented calculate load-deformation response SAP 2000 program.
